Do we finish above Chelsea?

Currently we are 6 goals down on their GD
Chelsea go to Man Utd with Man Utd still to secure champions league football and lots of their players in the shop window and their GD low compared to chasing Liverpool.
Man Utd 3 - Chelsea 0
Now only 3 goals separate us on GD
We have Leicester with players fighting for a final place and Leicester reverting to defensive non scoring tactics. I fancy a 1-0 win
Now only 2 goals separate us on GD
Newcastle full of pomp visit Chelsea last day of the season.
Can they stop Chelsea scoring and score a few?

When I posted this elsewhere on here as a possibility following the Man Utd game it was partly tongue-in-cheek and partly in response to the doom and gloom merchants saying we weren't yet safe.
There is now a real chance If Newcastle beat Chelsea by just one and we win by two clear goals we will have the same points and the same goal difference but will have scored more goals than them (unless Chelsea loses 7-8 :)
Pity Leicester will be playing for their lives and Newcastle have already made the Champions League - but not impossible

Unfortunately not. But they are sinking quicker than the Titanic. I don’t think whoever goes through their door this summer going to help. Rome is burning. Well the West part of it is.

That balls up by Paqueta and Rice to not bag a 4th on Sunday looks like a killer now.
Would have meant it would only need us to win and Chelsea to lose.
Now we’ll have to win by 2.

We've scored more so goal difference is irrelevant now as it stands. We win and they lose, then we finish above them irrespective of scorelines.

Basically your whole premise is based on one single game. If you'd started this thread after they lost 5-3 to Fulham a couple of weeks back then you'd have said they'd reverted to high scoring defensively frail tactics.

I don't envy Dean Smith here. Probably one of the most difficult games of his career. They have to go out and win but know they CANNOT lose. It's a headache for a manager.
Keep it tight but have a go.
I hope they get all confused and play like cunts and we smash the shot out of them.

Nagal - Newcastle hadn’t qualified for the CL before the final whistle Vs leicester
Now they have they will be full of pomp as no more nerves.

You could sort of understand Smith going with the back 5 and hoping to snatch a late winner ...which they almost did.
Newcaste had about 25 shots and should have won 3-0 or more.
Obviously against us Maddison & Barnes will come back and they have to go for the win from the start
